Our Beliefs We have these basic convictions concerning the teachings found in the New Testament Scriptures. * God is the eternal, sovereign creator and ruler of the universe who has revealed himself in Scripture. * Jesus is God in flesh who was born of the virgin Mary. He worked miracles and fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah. He died for our sins, was raised from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. He will return to earth as promised and serve as the judge of men. * The Bible is completely true and is the inspired word of God written. The New Testament is the authoritative standard for faith and practice. * We, as human beings, were created in the image of God and stand, either as sinners in need of salvation, or sinners saved by God's loving grace through faith in Christ. We inherit the consequences of Adam's sin, but not the guilt. We are sinners because we choose to sin. We have free will to either accept or reject God's offered salvation. The New Testament reveals that a proper response to the gospel involves believing in the person of Jesus as Savior and Lord, confession of such faith before others, repentance of sins, and immersion into Christ for the forgiveness of sins. * The Holy Spirit dwells within believers, helping us to turn from the works of the flesh and produce the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. * The church is the body of Christ and is God's chosen agency to proclaim the gospel to the lost and encourage other believers throughout the world. Each local congregation is autonomous, choosing its own elders, deacons and minister(s), answering to no other authority other than the word of God. Each Sunday Christians regularly assemble with other believers for preaching, breaking of bread, prayers and fellowship.
