Our History Our Church is a part of a fellowship of churches usually known as the Christian Church or Churches of Christ (instrumental). This fellowship came out of the early 1800's when people from different denominations came together with a desire to unite together as Christians only. This meant leaving behind man-made creeds which divided the various denominations and simply allowing the Bible to be our only rule and guide. Some of the ideas that came out of that time that still guide us today are "no creed but Christ", "no book but the Bible", and "not the only Christians but Christians only". We are not a denomination in the sense of having a central headquarters and hierarchy beyond the local church. We do come together with other churches for fellowship, worship and encouragement at local, state and even national seminars and conferences. Over the years we have become one of the fastest growing fellowships in the world with over 5000 congregations, 1.1 million members and 36 bible colleges, liberal arts schools and seminaries. Bolivar Christian Church was a new church plant back in 2004. Keith Graves, the present minister, has been here since 2006. His wife Holly is a school teacher, and they have three children who all graduated from Bolivar High School.
